Miracle

Here is another video by director Stéphanie Di Giusto for Vanessa Bruno’s 2011 Spring/Summer line. Miracle features the ever cool and alluring Lou Doillon and the beautifully ethereal Jessica Joffe. I love the short films that Bruno and Di Giusto create for each of Bruno’s lines. The sense of whimsy, adventure, and spontaneity exuded in these films complements Bruno’s aesthetic completely.

Boyfriend Material

There are so many female-focused fashion blogs out there. When I stop to think about it, there aren’t very many decent contributions toward male style from a female point of view. I get it, women’s clothes are a lot of fun and there is SO MUCH to choose from. The possibilities are endless. For a long time, guys got the flack in having few choices and even fewer decently priced local shops or even websites. However, affordable men’s fashion is advancing abundantly as of late and the options are splendid. So I am taking the time, for my all my boys, to share a few of my favorite pieces.

Topman Grey Brace Button Chinos ($80): Grey cotton chinos, part of the Topman LTD collection. Interesting split waistband detail in back.

Fjallraven Backpack ($80): A Swedish made rucksack with nylon straps on the back and at the top for versatility. Get the mini version for $60.

RCVA Striped Pullover ($65): A timeless lightweight knit pullover.

Leather Man LTD Belt ($60): The Trace Carrier Belt, originally produced by Leather Man LTD in 1967.

Herbert Schier Velskoen Shoes ($140): Handmade work shoes known as Velskoens or "Vellies.". Also made in a dark brown suede.

Filson Mackinaw Cap ($45): A wool winter cap with cotton lined earflaps. Reminiscent of Little Pete's cap from the Adventures of Pete and Pete.

These Boots

Christmas is rapidly approaching, and luckily, I got it together enough this year to finish shopping for gifts (and wrapping them!) way ahead of time. Unfortunately, when spending my time thinking of decent gifts to buy for my loved ones, I neglected to think of any good gift requests to give my parents. Sure, there are plenty of things I’d like to ask for, with a good sunrise alarm clock at the top of that list, but I make it a habit not to ask for anything that is too expensive (aka over $100) unless it’s completely necessary, like that GPS two years ago so I would be able to find my directionally challenged way home when I lived in Minneapolis. I made a rushed decision and had them order a pair of boots which arrived yesterday and were pretty disappointing, so now I am looking through shopping websites and coming across some dream boots while bargain shopping with crossed fingers. -LB
